 The house is wired with a complete security and alarm system which includes a video-entry at the front gate. The electric gates can be controlled from both inside the house and by remote control fobs. As part of the Safe Communities Algarve network, the property is numbered and emergency services can be reached by calling a dedicated number for convenience.

                         

From a practical perspective, there is a spacious pump room and work shop built in under the main terrace, which includes a giant fitted workbench and table, as well as plenty of space for storing garden furniture and sports equipment. There is a separate pump room for the swimming pool. There is also a large shed and wood store. A separately fenced pen is suitable for dogs or could be used for a vegetable garden. The solar panel for hot water is discretely placed between the boundary fence and a row of trees and bushes.

                 

The property was especially designed to conserve and recycle water. Water for the house is from the borehole and there is a dedicated cisterna. A second cisterna is for the automated irrigation, and is fed by waste water from the house plus ahidden drainage system which collects rainwater from the roof and grounds. There is a double pump system so if one is under maintenance the other can be switched over, so you never have to worry about the water supply to the house.

Guelhim hill itself is peaceful but not isolated. There are a number of villas scattered across the hillside, and the tarmac road provides good access.

                         

The market towns of Loulé and São Bras are both within a 15 minute drive, while the villages of Estoi and Santa Barbara de Nexe are just a few minutes away. The beaches, tennis and golf courses of Quinta do Lago and Vale de Lobo are within a 20 minute drive.

In the village of Santa Barbara you will find supermarkets, a bank, insurance and legal services, a pharmacy, hardware shop, medical services, schools, church and various shops and boutiques. In addition there are some great bars and restaurants of both local and international cuisine, ranging from cheap and cheerful to fine-dining.
