Happy Birthday Pinetrees!

by Sun's Dragon

Come and join the fun at Pinetrees Riding Centre, Almancil, and help raise monies for Their Voice, Portugal and Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados de Loulé (AAAA de Loulé) and São Francisco de Assis Dogs Home.

Pinetrees stables has been in business for almost 29 years; owned and managed by Bev Gibbons, it is one of the most prestigious stables in the Algarve. Not only does Bev give riding lessons for residents and holiday makers alike, she also organises both adult and children’s horse riding events, and gives specialised tuition for disabled riders.

Horse and Hound

Horse and Hound Event Pinetrees Algarve

To celebrate the 29th birthday of Pinetrees, there will be a very special event for the whole family, including the pets! It’s the Horse and Hound event and all the proceeds go to charity.

So let the games begin - Sunday 27th August, starting at 4pm.

This should be a hoot to watch if you’re not actually taking part, because everyone is encouraged to wear fancy dress (with a fabulous first prize to be won).

Fun competitions

Competitors make up a team with horse/rider and dog/dog handler. Riders complete a jump course, to be followed by the dog on a course of doggy obstacles - against the clock! Now just imagine that all going on in silly costumes! Did I say silly? I meant lovely of course.

You can always compete in the orange and spoon race if you don’t have a horse and/or dog, but if you do have one or the other; there will be more obstacle courses to compete in.

Fee for competitors is €5 per entry and it’s free for spectators.

Entertainment

Rancho Foklorico Juvenil e Infantil de Loule

The evening’s entertainment will be a fabulous BBQ, with the folk dancing juniors of Loulé (Rancho Folklorico Juvenil e Infantil de Loulé) performing for the diners. It will be a bit more informal than when you see them dance in hotels etc and at the end they will encourage some of the youngsters attending the event to join in; this provides a great opportunity to reveal a bit of the Algarve culture and create integration.

There will also be dog demonstrations, where more of our four-legged friends can show off their skills. I can just hear the ooohing and aaahing as I write.

Catering will be provided by Glamour.

Thanks to the organisations who are supporting the event:
